Alcoa Inc. (NYSE: AA): Reports from London\'s Times newspaper, BHP Billiton Ltd. (NYSE: BHP) may consider a $40 billion takeover of Alcoa.
ECI Telecom (NASDAQ: ECIL): Is in discussions with a group of investors led by Swarth Investments regarding a potential acquisition of all the shares of the company by the group for a consideration of $10.00 per share in cash.
Isle of Capri Casinos (NASDAQ: ISLE): Commenting on takeover speculation, on the heels of the acquisition of Penn National Gaming (NASDAQ: PENN), Nollenberger Capital said a takeover of ISLE is unlikely.
Wendy\'s (NYSE: WEN): Said the Special Committee of its Board of Directors, which is reviewing the Company\'s strategic options, has decided to explore a possible sale of the Company. NOTE: Company also warned for FY07, which is sending the stock lower today.
NYMEX (NYSE: NMX): Commenting on takeover rumors late Friday, Chicago Mercantile (NYSE: CME) said it is not in merger discussions with NYMEX. NOTE: NYSE Euronext, Inc. (NYSE: NYX), Deutsche Boerse AG, InterContinental Exchange (NYSE: ICE) have also been linked to merger talk with NYMEX.
US Steel (NYSE: X): UBS downgraded the stock to Reduce and said the current price already reflects hopes of an acquisition. The firm said, "we do not see an imminent deal."
Cadence Design Systems (NASDAQ: CDNS): Reports from the New York Times, talks between the company and two private equity firms, the Blackstone Group and KKR, have stalled over price.
Dow Jones (NYSE: DJ): Reports Pearson (NYSE: PSO), which owns the Financial Times, is pursing a joint bid with GE (NYSE: GE) for Dow Jones.
